Gesa Mietzner

Art historian and cultural scientist, photographer.
She worked for the project organization of the Künstlerhaus Bremen, the University of Arts Bremen and in 2004 for the first time for thealit with "Virtual Minds – Congress for Fictional Figures". Her masters’ degree thesis focussed on "The Lust for the Machine - Women and Computer Games", a topic she continues to explore playfully. Other projects of her are the coordination of the Network of Fine Arts at the Künstlerhaus Bremen and the management work at the "Künstlerinnenverband Bremen (Society of Female Artists Bremen, GEDOK)".
"During the cultural market organized by the Bremen chamber of commerce in the summer of 2002 I was for the first time responsible for "intervention. viruses. models. tricks." (thealit 2003) and was very much intrigued by the concept and the form of presentation. Within the frame of my organizational work at the Künstlerhaus Bremen I participated in supporting the exhibition that took place there and discussing my thesis with Andrea Sick led to the welcome conviction that the interdisciplinary approach by thealit offers a platform for my involvement into the fields gender/culture/technology/science."
